[edit]There is no precedent for adding songs to disambig pages (or redirect pages) unless they have their own article, such as tainted love. It is an overstep of the nature of disambig pages. If people are looking for a song and they don't remember the artist or cd title then they can use the search function. Not only would it require an excessive amount of work to create pages for EVERY song but there is a song title for nearly everything. Vicarious 19:15, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
I know not this "precedent" whereof you speak?
The Wikipedia:Disambiguation guidelines as currently written:
... to let the reader choose among different pages that closely relate to various meanings of a particular term (some of which might logically utilize said term in a titular fashion).
Here we have several albums and songs. Rather than creating a separate page for each (not everybody believes that every little thing deserves its own page), I've listed the places they occur. Somebody that wasn't sure where the song might be will be able to find it easily. They are "titles" used in a "titular fashion".
Not to forget the horse. ;-)
- You have an uncanny knack for misreading me that's getting a little out of hand. My first four words on this page is, "there is no precedent", to which you respond, "I know not this precedent". I don't really know how to make it more clear than saying there isn't one. I've read the exerpt you posted from the disambig guidling several times and I still don't see how that either supports your side or disagrees with what I said at the top of this page, and no, I was never requesting these songs get their own page. The "titular fashion" that the policy refers to is saying that if the title of the ARTICLE is similar than it belongs on the disambig page. Not that if it contains the words somewhere in the article then it belongs on the disambig page. If we were to use this logic then every article that contains the name George Bush should be on the disambig page including Shaka Sankofa, Timothy Bush, Jr, Flora Sheldon and so on. This makes no sense. Even if you want to stick with your idea of just songs it makes no sense.
What the exerpt you posted on this page means is disambig pages link to articles that have the same title or meaning as the name of the disambig page, not contains the text. This is also why the horse does not belong. Vicarious 13:00, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
